Aberdeen Royal Golf Club

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in Aberdeen, Scotland, was founded in 1780 as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen and became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. Until 1888 members played on the Queen’s Links close to the city before moving across the River Don to the links at Balgownie. The Course was originally designed by the Simpson Brothers, Archie and Robert of Carnoustie and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid to ensure our classic links kept pace with the modern game.

The highest course in Scotland at around 1,200 feet above sea level, it offers a short but challenging course at 4,935 off the medal tees. The club was founded in March 1902 and developed in 1903 at croft Muickan as a nine hole, later in 1910 the lease of Cavan’s Park allowed for an extension to eighteen hole capability.

Described as having a rich variety of memorable holes, making the most of the natural variations in the terrain which is a mix of rolling parkland with inviting fairways and elevated hearthland. Golf was being played in Aboyne in 1874 but it wasn’t until 1883 that the club was founded.

Established in 1924 Lumphanan golf club has journeyed through highs and lows of membership and even befell a period of disbandment in 1967. Thankfully through the hard work of a few local champions the course was reopened in 1994.
