Glen Tanar Estate Just a short trip from your Royal Deeside dog friendly lodge, Glen Tanar offers miles of trails through ancient Caledonian pinewoods. This estate is part of the Cairngorm national park and is full of natural charm. Listen for birdsong overhead, watch for red squirrels, and take in views that feel truly timeless. With the gentle riverside paths alongside the River Tanar, well known for its peaty brown tones and paddling spots. Find more forest trails and loops for Mountain biking, Horse back riding and hikes to take in your stunning panoramic view points such as Mount Keen. There’s something for every pace and age in this great outdoor space thats full of Scottish fresh air and is the perfect wellness tonic.

Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve Located near the village of Dinnet, this park is famous for its dramatic geology and rich biodiversity. One of the highlights is the Burn O’Vat, a huge, mysterious stone cauldron carved by glacial meltwater. The trails around Muir of Dinnet pass through lochs, birch woodland, and heather-covered slopes. It’s a brilliant spot for a quiet, slow walk with plenty of opportunities to see birds and other wildlife. Loch Muick This well loved loch can be found in Glen Muick just outside of the Royal Deeside village of Ballater. Tucked beneath the mighty Lochnagar, Loch Muick is a real favourite for visitors and locals alike. The loop around the loch is peaceful and scenic, offering views of open water, hills, and roaming deer. With its blend of beauty and serenity, it’s a perfect choice for a longer outing during Love Parks Week. Like many Scottish outdoor spaces dress for all types of weather as it really has its own wee micro climate. St Cyrus National Nature Reserve A bit further afield but worth the journey, St Cyrus offers wild coastal beauty with long stretches of beach, wildflowers, and dramatic cliffs. Butterflies and seabirds are everywhere, and if you’re lucky, you might spot dolphins offshore. It’s a peaceful contrast to the inland parks and a lovely place to breathe in the sea air.
