Reel Caption Competition — Win a two night forest escape 🌲🐿️

We are marking Squirrel Appreciation Day a little bit different this year and running a FREE to enter competition. Rather than sharing photography with the #hugasquirrelgiggle , we would love to read your creativity. Write your perfect caption for our reel and you could be in with a chance to win a 2-night stay at either Cairngorm Bothies or Cairngorm Lodges.

Our ancient Scots pine forest is a vital home for the native red squirrel. This competition helps us celebrate these acrobatic friends and share why protecting the forest matters to us. It is also a chance for you to win a proper retreat, deep in the pines and enjoy the company of these cheeky wee friends along with our other forest wildlife.

How to enter

• The competition reel will be posted on our Facebook page on 21 January 2026 from 5pm. (Squirrel Appreciation Day).
• Entry to the Prize Draw is FREE with a qualifying comment on the Red Squirrel Reel with a caption you would pair with the video.
  • • Your caption must include the following three words:
      • red squirrel,
      • forest, and
      • either Cairngorm Bothies or Cairngorm Lodges.
  • Example -“Living my best life as a red squirrel in this forest at Cairngorm Lodges!”
• A qualifying entry MUST HAVE BEEN :
  • • Shared on FaceBook
    • Commented with your qualifying caption and
    • React (like) the reel for your entry to be eligible.
• One entry per person.
• The competition runs for 10 days, closing at 23:59 on 31 January 2026.
• All qualifying entries will be added to a Free Prize Draw and the winner will be drawn randomly. If the winner fails to respond in 48hrs to our Direct Private Messenger request another winner will be drawn.
• The winner will be announced from Wednesday 4th February 2026.
• Terms & Conditions of bookings apply. Prize must be redeemed by 30th November 2026. Dates of the prize exclude special dates such as Valentines weekend. The two night stay can be taken at Cairngorm Lodges or sister company Cairngorm Bothies it does excludes dog fees. 

The prize

✨ Dogs are welcome at dog-friendly properties, however a pet fee applies.

Terms and Conditions

• This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram.
• There will be 1 winner, who will be announced on the Cairngorm Bothies and Cairngorm Lodges Facebook pages on Wednesday 4th February 2026.
• Only comments made on the competition reel will count as valid entries. Comments posted elsewhere, tags, DMs or standalone posts do not count.
• To be eligible an entrant must share the reel, react (like) it and post a qualifying comment during the entry window. Entries that do not include all three actions will not be entered into the Free Prize Draw.
• The Winner will be chosen from qualifying comments on the competition reel (21 January – 31 January 2026) by way of Draw. The final draw and decision are made by the Cairngorm Bothies & Cairngorm Lodges team and are final. The winner will receive a 2-night stay for up to 4 people at either Cairngorm Bothies or Cairngorm Lodges. No cash alternative is offered. Prize subject to availability.
• We will share the validated winning entry on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
• Employees of Cairngorm Bothies and Cairngorm Lodges are excluded.
• One entry per person. Multiple comments will not increase chances of winning.
• By entering, entrants grant Cairngorm Bothies & Cairngorm Lodges permission to repost their comment and public profile handle on social channels for promotion of the competition and the winner announcement.
